Yes, there are at least 10 other people in this world that have the same interests as you, enjoys the same things you do, does the same activities, listens to the same music, reads the same books, dresses the same. It’s not a big deal.

A myriad of feelings mushed together… on an answering machine?
I was close to using a “From x to y” headline, but decided against it. Yearbookers do that a lot, I’ve noticed. They like puns and paradoxes (paradoxi? Hehe) too. “Alt+Arm+Ctrl. The same, but different.” One I especially remember is “Making Moolah Cause It’s Coolah,” used for our jobs spread last year. Not that it’s a pun or a paradox.
Aside from reminiscing about yearbook headlines and lead-ins, my thoughts were led astray as I picked up those “Congratulations!” and “We regret..” folders and letters. Okay, so I lied and I readily threw away the latter. It was for the narration’s sake and for not making me sound like an arrogant fool. But more for the narration’s sake.
For awhile, the prospects of college has been on the back burner of my mind. I’ve been pretty complacent with this whole idea of college up until about eight minutes ago when I suddenly realized that I am not as gallant as I lead myself up to be.
The thought’s incomplete but I cannot, for the life of me, think sincerely and analytically with my mum in the background yelling on the answering machine to tell me pick up because she needs to talk to me. I’d rather sit here, listen and smile. Anyway, she persists and just decides to leave a message: Millie, get ready. I am going to the grocery store. I’ll be back in 20 minutes. Get ready! I am coming in 20 minutes. We are going to have lunch and go shopping. Get ready because I’ll be there in 20 minutes.
God, the redundancy and persistence in that woman. I suppose it can be admirable.
Earnest, CSS and Toola Toola
The Importance of Being Earnest is witttay. Interpreter of Maladies is finished. Two more to go, Ethan Frome and The Awakening.
For the past two days, I have been desperately trying to code the CSS for a new layout but have since then, failed. Can you forget something like that?
I haven’t had a library card since I was 8 years old–some daunting fines just had me buying my books instead. A decade later (It feels so weird to say that I’ve lived for nearly two decades. Two!), I was finally old enough to get a library card by myself. I am really not a fan of the whole borrowing book deal, but I did get what I intended with–Recorded Books presents Pimsleur Language Programs: Hindi.
My car ride home from MLK consisted of various repetitions and me giggling to myself as I said “I understand Hindi a little”. Toola toola! (That means a little, but I’m nearly positive that’s not how you spell it since I’m only doing a verbal course.)
How nice of the Bureau
Following my 18th birthday, the Bureau of Voter Registration (I forget the exact name, I tossed the envelope) sent me a voter registration form.
After about 10 minutes of contemplating whether to register with the Democratic, Green or Peace and Freedom Party, I finally decided to just go with the good ol’ jackass. Yes, I am a registered Democrat. Well, as of Monday, since the Post Office doesn’t work Sundays or holidays.
I almost put Republican, just to vote in their closed primaries, heh heh.
Update on yesterday’s goal: No camera yet, maybe today will be a better day. I did make dinner yesterday though. Today’s goal will be to get a job.
Don’t be so snooty, booty!
Anyway, I realized I don’t have the patience for yoga. I tried. I even have a very pretty orange and pink yoga mat. I just cannot be asked to purely sit and breathe, I am not a plant. I just really like plants. I’m an actual human being made to run around, throw tantrums, talk about books.. I can’t possibly get in touch with myself by sitting there and breathing for an hour. No, I really can’t lie to myself to comform to this zen shit. I, however, remain relatively loyal to pilates.
What is this? Madeleine is on?? Cool.
In Madeleine’s cute little french accent: This is terr-iiii-bleeee! Allons-y!
Immediate goal for today’s post is to get my small hands on a very nice camera so I can be ready to take oodles of pictures when I go over to the East. I think I will bring my computer and mooch off any Wi-Fi I can in the process and blog.
By the way, it is Blog Against Theocracy weekend.
PS. Don’t be the perpetual “Let’s hang out-er”, puhlease. Just call, plan it and do it! Stupid friendships based on suggestive hang-outs are not my cup of tea.
I love not having school, legitimately!
Now that we are THIS close to being done with the yearbook, I have SO much free time. I’m so excited.. I just started Interpreter of Maladies and I can’t wait to keep read, read, reading! God, what a lost hobby. I hope everyone reads a good book this break.
My reading queue for Spring Break
- Interpreter of Maladies sans journal entries
- Ethan Frome w/ journal entries
- The Importance of Being Earnest w/ study questions
- Reread the Awakening w/ journal entries
- If time allows, more Kurt Vonnegut would be fab
If you’re reading any of the above, let me know! Let’s talk about them.. do I feel a book club coming on?
I just finished writing a paper on Othello this morning and it felt fabulous to be able to write and articulate myself again! Okay, so I am done being so psyched about rediscovering reading and writing.
Anyway, I booked my flight for MA for the 19th and will drive down the LA on the 14th. High school needs to end. Right now.
Well, maybe in a little bit.
